This was one of the most interesting labs that we did. In this lab students were asked to cut Planarian to discover if their stem cells were localized. We were given a specific cut (we cut the tail off) as well as a choice cut (we cut it into thirds) on the second worm. From the data that we collected we discovered that the Planarians stem cells were slightly localized towards the eyespots of the animal. With this lab we collaborated with the University of Utah and their stem cell research program. I loved the opportunity and I think it was really cool to have our work contribute to something. I wish that I had gone into further depth in the observations. This lab relied heavily on them, and I believe that if I had taken more accurate observations, the end conclusion would have been stronger.
